New Year, New You? … Cut. It. Out!

What if the “new you” is simply the same you, but more concentrated, more refined? Don’t add. Subtract. (And I don’t mean just pounds – the standard New Years resolution for many).

Less clutter. Less waste. Less uselessness.

Do you really like Susan and want her as a friend?
Does time with your brother make you happier or sadder?
Do you need 50 pair of shoes? (And only wear 20…)
Do you kill time online and with social media instead of accomplishing real tasks and goals?
Do you eat foods mindlessly without enjoyment and with all the guilt and weight gain?

Cut. It. Out.

Be the you that already is. But refine the you into the essential pieces. Less waste. More content and value.

Sentimentality. Habit. Inertia. These will be your enemies.

If you haven’t used it in a year, trash it. If the relationship doesn’t improve your life, let it go. If the food or activity doesn’t benefit you, then why waste the time or energy or calories.

Cut. It. Out.
