Are you grateful for the things you DON’T have?
Do you have a toothache right now? No?
Good. Be thankful for that!
This is a form of gratitude meditation. Pausing to appreciate the absence of negativity in your life.
Is your spouse fighting with you? Are you struggling to pay your rent? Is your job in jeopardy?
No? Be thankful for that.
We are always wishing for more. Or saying “look at what I have.” But sometimes we forget to appreciate what we don’t have.
Or even more so, it is good to be glad our problems are not other, BIGGER problems.
There is a young man in my daughter’s class right now who is quite ill. It’s scary stuff to imagine as a parent.
As a result, this last month, I’ve been so glad that the biggest problems I have with my daughter are her forgetfulness or her math homework.
I LOVE these problems. I am grateful for them.
Because it means that’s the biggest issue. Not her health or well being.
I appreciate the ABSENCE of that illness. That toothache.
Stop looking for more. Be grateful you have less.
Others may have more than you. But sometimes the more they have is in the worry column.
